Compliance. Why doctors sometimes need help over the hurdles

Let’s face it, doctors who want to practise in the UK need to cross more hurdles than the runners and riders in the Grand National.

Of course, all these checks are necessary to ensure that the doctors National Locums supplies to NHS and independent hospitals are among the best of the best.

But there’s no denying that sometimes the sheer weight of paperwork, online form-filling, certificate-sourcing and reference-checking can be frustrating for locums who just want to get on with the job.

While National Locums consultants’ team is seen as the “good cop” – because they bring the good news about job opportunities! – the compliance team is sometimes seen as the “bad cop” when chasing for documentation. But they always do their best to offer support, a sympathetic ear and practical assistance.

At the end of the day, everyone is aiming for the same goal – providing great locums to excellent hospitals. The British health system is recognised as one of the best in the world, and compliance is an essential part of ensuring those standards are maintained.

Says National Locums’ Head of Compliance Emma Doran: “Our aim is to help locum doctors achieve their compliance documentation and GMC revalidation as smoothly as possible.

“The NHS is, rightly, extremely demanding. But with our expertise, we make compliance for our locums as quick and as painless as possible.”

As part of this process, National Locums’ holds monthly Open Days for doctors, and while at the moment these are held at the company’s Milton Keynes head office, they will soon be rolled out to other centres across the UK.
