Duration: ASAP – 6 months initially
Hours: 09:00 – 17:00, Monday to Friday
On-Call: To be discussed at the point of booking

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Ophthalmologist with a specialization in Vitreoretinal Surgery to join our team in Northern Ireland. This full-time position is available immediately for an initial period of six months, with the potential for extension. The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00, with on-call responsibilities to be discussed at the point of booking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert clinical care in vitreoretinal surgery and general ophthalmology.
- Perform vitreoretinal surgical procedures and manage post-operative care.
- Conduct outpatient clinics, including assessments and follow-up appointments.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive eye care services.
- Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and support junior medical staff and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.
Requirements:
- Medical degree and full GMC registration.
- CCT in Ophthalmology or equivalent, with subspecialty training in Vitreoretinal Surgery.
- Extensive experience in vitreoretinal surgery at the consultant level.
- Strong clinical and surgical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
