Responsibilities:
- Theatre Nurses:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.
- Prepare and maintain the operating room, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are readily available.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and assist in their recovery following surgery.
- Adhere to sterile techniques and infection control protocols.
- Scrub Practitioners:
- Prepare and set up the operating room, ensuring sterility and availability of necessary instruments and supplies.
- Scrub in and assist surgeons during surgical interventions, maintaining a sterile environment.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide appropriate instruments and supplies during procedures.
- Possess thorough knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, and instrumentation.
- Anaesthetic Practitioners:
- Assist in the administration of anaesthesia to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels during anaesthesia.
- Ensure patient safety throughout the procedure by managing airways and monitoring patient responses.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to optimise patient outcomes.
- Recovery Practitioners:
- Monitor and care for patients in the recovery area following surgery.
- Assess patients’ post-operative condition, including vital signs, pain levels, and recovery progress.
- Administer medications and provide appropriate interventions to manage pain and facilitate recovery.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure patients’ safe transition to the appropriate post-operative care setting.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications and registration with the appropriate professional bodies.
- Proven experience in a similar role within a theatre setting.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, equipment, and sterile techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and infection control.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call duties.
