Consultant Haematologist with SI in Haemostasis and Thrombosis
Overview
Applications in this case are welcomed for a Locum Consultant post in Clinical Haematology (General Haematology) with a sub-specialty in Haemostasis and Thrombosis.
This is a new full time (10 PA) role.
The department have an established team of Specialist Registrars, Speciality Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists to support Consultants in delivering Haematology care.
Main duties of the job
- The Clinical Haematology service comprises all Haematology/Oncology, general haematology, and haemostasis and thrombosis referrals for investigation, diagnosis and treatment.
- There is additional responsibility for investigation and advice on the management of patients with haematological problems from all other areas including ante-natal serology.
- This includes a bone marrow biopsy service for patients not under the direct care of the haematologists. Anticoagulant monitoring is managed within Primary Care.
The Haematology Department is heavily involved in phase 2 and 3 international clinical trials in particular in the field of myeloid malignancies and myeloma.

Qualifications – Essential criteria
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent / FRCPath or equivalent
- GMC registered
Experience / Skills – Essential criteria
- Extensive experience and training in general clinical haematology
- Experience of involvement in clinical research and audit
- Good communication skills
- Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
