We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Clinical & Technical Services Pharmacist (Band 8A) to join the Pharmacy Department at Princess Elizabeth Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
-
Deliver specialist clinical pharmacy services to oncology and haematology patients (inpatient, day case and outpatient).

Provide clinical pharmacy services to allocated medical and surgical wards.

Clinically screen prescriptions and optimise patient therapies.
-
Support safe, effective and economical use of medicines.
-
Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and meetings.
-
Provide medicines information and advice to healthcare professionals and patients.
-
Support aseptic and radio pharmacy services.
-
Contribute to oncology governance and service development.
-
Participate in risk management including medication incident investigation.
-
Support development and implementation of treatment protocols and clinical guidelines.
-
Act as an authorised pharmacist for release of aseptic products.
-
Provide dispensary support as a senior pharmacist.
Pharmacists registered as prescribers may prescribe within their competence with appropriate approval.
Essential Requirements
Qualifications

Pharmacy Degree
-
Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
-
Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent experience)

Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Experience and Skills
-
Post-registration experience in hospital clinical pharmacy
-
Broad clinical pharmacy knowledge and ward-based experience
-
Ability to manage a specialist clinical area

Experience of clinical audit or medicines information

Experience managing clinical incidents or patient safety issues
-
Knowledge of electronic chemotherapy prescribing systems

Leadership and team management skills

Ability to build effective working relationships
