We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Clinical & Technical Services Pharmacist (Band 8A) to join the Pharmacy Department at Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Deliver specialist clinical pharmacy services to oncology and haematology patients (inpatient, day case and outpatient).

  • Provide clinical pharmacy services to allocated medical and surgical wards.

  • Clinically screen prescriptions and optimise patient therapies.

  • Support safe, effective and economical use of medicines.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and meetings.

  • Provide medicines information and advice to healthcare professionals and patients.

  • Support aseptic and radio pharmacy services.

  • Contribute to oncology governance and service development.

  • Participate in risk management including medication incident investigation.

  • Support development and implementation of treatment protocols and clinical guidelines.

  • Act as an authorised pharmacist for release of aseptic products.

  • Provide dispensary support as a senior pharmacist.

Pharmacists registered as prescribers may prescribe within their competence with appropriate approval.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications

  • Pharmacy Degree

  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

  • Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent experience)

  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Experience and Skills

  • Post-registration experience in hospital clinical pharmacy

  • Broad clinical pharmacy knowledge and ward-based experience

  • Ability to manage a specialist clinical area

  • Experience of clinical audit or medicines information

  • Experience managing clinical incidents or patient safety issues

  • Knowledge of electronic chemotherapy prescribing systems

  • Leadership and team management skills

  • Ability to build effective working relationships
