Non-De Specialty Doctor – Adult Inpatient Psychiatry

Our Sussex based private client is seeking an experienced Locum Specialty Doctor in Adult Inpatient Psychiatry to provide medical input across a well established 18 bed adult mental health service, comprising a 9 bed acute ward and a 9 bed rehabilitation ward.

This is a hands on clinical role within a supportive multidisciplinary environment, offering continuity of care without on call commitments. The post holder will work under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist and play a central role in patient assessment, treatment planning, and ward based clinical decision making.

The service focuses on person centred, recovery oriented care, supporting patients to regain independence and stability in a safe, respectful setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing management of adult inpatients with functional and organic mental disorders

• Risk assessment and formulation of bio psycho social care plans

• Prescribing and review of pharmacological and non pharmacological treatments in line with NICE guidance

• Participation in ward rounds, CPA meetings, Best Interest Meetings, and MDT discussions

• Supporting the Consultant Psychiatrist with Mental Health Act work, tribunals, and managers hearings where required

• Supervision and clinical support of junior doctors and MDT colleagues

• Contribution to audit, service quality improvement, and clinical governance

• Accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with professional standards
