We are seeking an experienced and motivated deputy team manager to join our children and family community services for a three month block booking.
The Deputy Manager will assist and provide effective leadership and supervision to the Children in Care (CIC) Team and Leaving Care Services. The post holder will assist in the management of the effective provision of social work services provided by the CIC Team and Leaving Care service and ensure the core functions of the team operate to a good quality and are effective in safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children and Young people in line with the Corporate Parenting Strategy and the Children and Young People’s Plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing a Social Worker Service to all Children in Care following a decision regarding permanence or those subject to Care Requirements.
- Ensuring that all statutory duties in respect of Children in Care and Care Leavers are met in full.
- Undertaking assessments of Children in Care and Care Leavers and ensuring that Care Plans, Pathway Plans, review documents and other LAC material forms are completed.
- Working with other agencies to ensure that health, educational and social care needs are properly addressed.
- Ensuring that the standards of care for Children in Care and Care Leavers are of the highest quality.
- Undertaking Child Protection Investigations for Children in Care in line with policy and procedures.
- Providing a Social Work Service to children, young people and families in Alderney.
- Holding Planning and Professionals meetings for LAC and Care Leavers.
- Undertaking and overseeing statement and Childs Plans for Court and the Child, Youth and Community Tribunal process in line with policy and procedures.
Essential Requirements
Qualifications
- Recognised Social Care Qualification e.g., Diploma/Degree in Social Work or CQSW.
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Hold a management qualification, e.g., CMI Level 3 or willingness to work towards CMI Level 3.
Skills
- In depth knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, local and UK best practice guidance and regulations, National Minimum Standards and policies and procedures pertinent to Children in Care and Leaving Care services.
- Experience of staff supervision, appraisal, mentoring and of chairing meetings with confidence.
- Experience of working with complex issues and of coping with stressful situations, providing calm and effective leadership and professional guidance for staff in support of the Manager.
