We are seeking an experienced and motivated specialist dietitian to join our Community, outpatient and acute settings for a three month block booking.
Clinical Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the delivery of high-quality evidence based dietetic care to patients with complex nutritional needs within your area of expertise.
- To provide highly specialist dietetic assessment and intervention as an autonomous practitioner using sound clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based practice to develop effective patient centred individualised nutrition assessments and diet therapy care plans. This means you take into account all relevant factors using the Dietetic ABCDE model of nutrition prescribing, and requesting appropriate tests, in order to offer effective expert advice and support for patients, their care givers, and professional colleagues of all grades. Using advanced listening skills and motivational techniques to work alongside clients to help them to achieve their nutritional goals.
- To autonomously hold responsibility for your own caseload in line with referral criteria and prioritisation to optimise effective and efficient caseload management alongside your Dietetic colleagues.
- To use highly specialist clinical reasoning and negotiation skills and communication techniques to work with clients to develop personalised care plans which address the client’s goals and their clinical need and to communicate these goals effectively to all relevant parties.
KEY CRITERIA
Minimum Qualifications:
- Registered Dietician with HCPC
- BSc or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
- Post Graduate Course related to speciality
Essential:
- Post qualification experience working in relevant specialist area of clinical dietetics
- Ability to deliver services as an autonomous Dietitian
- Evidence of self and professional development
- Experience delivering training to other health care professionals and to patients as required
- Recent relevant experience in home enteral feeding and enteral feeding equipment
- Good working knowledge of word processing including word, excel and PowerPoint with a good standard of written communication
- Ability to learn new computer systems and demonstrate computer literacy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Ability to commute within the Island, with access to an appropriate means of transport
- Enthusiastic and motivated with a positive attitude and a strong commitment to remain aware of current guidelines as they update, best practices and scientific developments affecting your work.
- Ability to work flexibly and to adapt and respond to service needs
- Ability to act autonomously but also as a strong part of the MDT, adapting to deliver optimal, safe, joined up patient centred care.
